Education
I am currently a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania working towards a dual certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. I have made the Dean's List all 4 semesters and currently have a 3.96 overall GPA. This coming semester I hope to get involved with the honors education service fraternity on campus Kappa Delta Phi.
Experience
For younger students, I have had several wonderful experiences through my schooling working one-on-one, in small groups, as well as conducting whole group lessons. I volunteered for two semesters at the on-campus Literacy Center and was privileged enough to work with 7 really amazing students who's struggles ranged from reading (switching verb tenses, vowel sounds, moving from one line to the next smoothly, getting nervous while reading aloud etc.) to math to science. I have also had multiple experiences to work with older students, but, admittedly, about half of these were with students who have some sort of special need. I have taken part in life skills lessons as well as learning support and I truly enjoyed my time in both. As a high school student, I was so worried about getting into college, specifically because I was not confident in my writing abilities and college essays are a huge part of acceptance for some schools. However, my writing portfolio not only got me accepted at IUP, but it allowed me to skip a writing course completely. Also, my overall SAT score was 1620 (national average was 1500 last I checked), which has led me to be exempt from some further testing in college. Additionally, I have all my clearances (ACT 34- Criminal Background Check, ACT 151 Child Abuse Clearance, ACT 24 Arrest/Conviction Report Form, and ACT 114 FBI Fingerprinting) and am first aid and CPR certified.

Hobbies
I truly love working with children and learning how their minds work. So much so that during the summers I work as a day camp counselor! I am even considering adding an Educational Psychology minor! It is so interesting to me how as adults we see the world one way, yet children find a whole different meaning to the same situation. Although I may be learning to be a teacher, I also believe there is a lot children can teach me. Although I love working with children, I also have a few other hobbies that include knitting, dancing, cooking, watching movies, riding quads, and volunteering at the animal shelter. I also really enjoy doing DIY crafts from Pinterest in my free time. One of my favorite places ever to visit is the zoo! I have two younger brothers who love baseball and are firefighters. We have two dogs that I love to play with in a kiddie pool in our backyard whenever it's warm out as well as a big, fluffy cat. My favorite colors are a tie between purple and green and my absolute favorite food is spaghetti. I also have done two 5K color runs and I definitely can say they were some of the best fun I've ever had!
